Insulation is a grant-led business. Most homeowners aren’t shopping on price — they’re asking one thing: “is it funded for me?” The installer who answers that clearly, fast, wins the work. Here’s what’s actually on offer.
ECO4
The Energy Company Obligation (ECO4) funds energy-efficiency measures — including loft, cavity-wall and solid-wall insulation — for lower-income households and those on qualifying benefits. It’s a whole-house scheme, so it often pairs insulation with other upgrades, and the funding can cover a large share (sometimes all) of the cost for eligible homes.
Warm Homes / Great British Insulation Scheme
The Great British Insulation Scheme (part of the wider Warm Homes push) targets a broader group of households — including many that don’t qualify for ECO4 — focused on single, straightforward measures like loft or cavity-wall insulation for less energy-efficient homes.
Two homeowners on the same street can qualify for completely different funding. Your job is to answer “which one am I?” before they call someone else.
The installer’s real problem
The schemes are generous, but eligibility is fiddly — it depends on the property, the household and current rules. A homeowner staring at a government page rarely works it out. They give up, or they call three installers and go with whoever answered.
- Answer eligibility on your website. A branded GrantCheck takes a postcode, checks live schemes and gives an indicative answer in ~30 seconds — capturing the visitor as a lead. Why that matters →
- Get found first. Most of these searches are local — ranking in your area puts you in front of grant-ready homeowners.
- Capture every enquiry. Answer every call and message, and follow up until it’s booked.
