Heat pumps installers

Every heat pump enquiry
asks the same thing.

Heat pump installers in England and Wales get one question before any other: how much of it does the Boiler Upgrade Scheme pay for? GrantCheck answers it on your own website in about 30 seconds, from the homeowner’s postcode, and sends you the enquiry.

What actually costs you jobs

The three that come up every time.

“How much is my grant?”

It is the first thing every homeowner wants to know and the one thing most installer websites do not say, because the answer depends on their property.

Long, technical sales cycle

A heat pump is a considered purchase. If you are not in the conversation early you are quoting against someone who was.

Off-gas confusion

The extra £1,500 needs two things to be true at once, and homeowners routinely assume they qualify when they do not.

Your site still says EPC required

The EPC condition was scrapped on 28 April 2026. Most installer websites still tell homeowners they need one, and turn away households who now qualify.

Boiler Upgrade Scheme

Headline amount
£7,500
Off gas grid (oil or LPG)
£9,000 until March 2027
Scheme runs until
2030
Valid EPC required
No — removed 28 April 2026
Covers
England and Wales

Extended to 2030. Since 28 April 2026 a valid EPC is no longer a requirement. Scotland and Northern Ireland run their own separate schemes.

The uplift requires the property to be heated by oil or LPG and to have no mains gas connection. Heating with oil does not on its own mean off-grid — GrantCheck asks about the gas connection separately, so nobody is quoted £9,000 who cannot get it.

Checked 30 August 2026 against gov.uk . Indicative — confirmed at official application.

FAQ

Heat pumps installers ask

Is the Boiler Upgrade Scheme still running in 2026?
Yes, and it has been extended to 2030. It pays £7,500 towards an air source or ground source heat pump in England and Wales, with an extra £1,500 until March 2027 for properties heated by oil or LPG with no mains gas connection. Checked 30 August 2026.
Do my customers still need an EPC for the Boiler Upgrade Scheme?
No. The EPC requirement was removed on 28 April 2026 — applications can now be made for properties with no valid EPC. Where one exists it should still be provided. This opened the scheme to a lot of households that were previously blocked, and most installer websites have not caught up.
How do I get more heat pump enquiries from my website?
Answer the grant question on the page instead of asking people to ring you to find out. Most heat pump traffic is researching, and the ones who leave without asking are the ones you never hear about. A checker turns that silent research into a named enquiry.
Does GrantCheck handle ground source too?
Yes — ground source, water source and shared ground loops all sit at the same amount under the scheme, and the checker covers them.
Do you do the MCS paperwork?
No. You install and you certify. We run the software and the marketing around it.
