Insulation funding, without the guesswork

Warm Homes: Local Grant has no headline figure and depends on the address, the household and the council. A checker answers it in seconds — honestly.

GrantCheck puts the answer to the grant question on your website, from a postcode.

Insulation is the hardest of the three to answer on a website, because there is no single number to put on the page. Warm Homes: Local Grant is delivered by participating councils, so what a household can get depends on the property, the income and whether their council is actually running the scheme this year.

So most installer sites do the sensible-looking thing and say nothing. Which means every homeowner who wanted to know goes somewhere else to find out.

Two questions homeowners always merge

“Do I qualify?” and “is it available where I live?” are different questions with different answers, and conflating them is how people end up disappointed at the worst moment.

  • Does the property qualify? EPC band D to G, and a household income usually at or below £36,000.
  • Is the council delivering it? A separate fact entirely. GrantCheck holds the published DESNZ datasets — currently 254,014 eligible postcodes and 277 participating authorities — and keeps the two apart.
An eligibility tool that guesses is worse than no tool. “We cannot confirm that one” keeps you honest; a false maybe costs you a survey and a reputation.

Why an honest “not yet” still earns you the job

A homeowner told plainly which rule they did not meet does not resent you for it. They remember that your website gave them a straight answer when four others gave them a form. Plenty of “not yet” households become customers later, and the checker has already captured them.

Where Google Ads fits

This is the part most installers skip, and it is where the money is.

You can buy an almost perfect click. Somebody in your town, on their phone, typing the exact phrase. The problem is never the click — it is that the click lands on a homepage that says “grants available, contact us”. They searched a specific question and got a brochure, so they go back to Google and try the next installer. You paid either way.

Point the same advert at a checker and the loop closes: the advert promises an answer, the page gives one in about thirty seconds, and the homeowner hands over a name while they are still looking at a real figure. Same budget, same keyword, completely different economics — and you can see exactly which search produced which enquiry.

That is the whole model: paid traffic into your own tool, not into somebody else’s portal.

The bit nobody explains about buying leads

A lead portal does not find you a customer. It runs the advert, catches the homeowner, and then sells that one homeowner to several installers at once. You are not buying a job — you are buying a place in a race, and you are paying for the privilege of being the third person to ring somebody who has already been rung twice.

Look at what actually happened there. The portal owns the advert, the landing page and the relationship. You own a phone number and a stopwatch. That is why the same enquiry gets cheaper for them and dearer for you every year: they are selling the same thing more times.

Generating your own is the same machine, pointed the other way. You run the advert. It lands on your website. The tool answers the question and takes the name. Nobody else gets a copy, because there is nobody else in the chain.

What lands in your inbox

The postcode, the property, the answers they gave and the outcome they were shown — before you have spent a minute on the phone. It is yours alone, and it never goes to three other installers in the same town.

See how GrantCheck works, or book fifteen minutes and we will run it against real addresses in your patch.

Grant figures on this page were checked against gov.uk on 30 August 2026 and are indicative — the binding figure is the one from the official application. Spotted something out of date? Tell us and we will fix it.
